Collaboration with Lynn Kim, Katherine Moore, and Axel Cuevas Santamaria

Stomata have been described as the mouths of plants. These small apertures, located on the undersides of leaves, open and close to regulate a plant’s temperature, absorb water and CO2. Breath Exchange is a collaborative art installation/ experiment.  A robot interface lays on a bed of sod, inviting viewers to sit and breathe with the large inflatable stomata sculptures that inhale and exhale. The rhythm of this breath synchronizes with visitors to the gallery space emphasizing human/ plant likeness.
